Architecture

KB Dubrava, Zagreb 1988, Stefan Kacin

This was originally built as a military hospital and then converted to a public one after the war. The main architect is actually from Slovenia and worked on a lot of cool projects all across Yugoslavia. I really love the shapes and colors of this building. I think it's really important to build functional object with style. Why seperate function and aesthetics?

Arcosanti, Arizona 1970-, Paolo Soleri

A utopian solarpunk-like project, Arcosanti is a city designed to be in congruence with the natural environment and to serve as an efficient compact minituarization of a social living space, thus maximizing human creative potential. These days, it's mostly occupied by artists and doesn't live up to the utopian communal vision, but it's interesting none the less. More on Arcology, the philosophy underlining Arcosanti in my archive.
